*This book is not an Indie Published book. But I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to post the review.

Have you ever been totally surprised by a book?

I chose Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister because I needed an audiobook from Libby and it was available. I hadn’t heard of it, but the premise sounded interesting.

I just finished it last night, and wow, did it surprise me.

I started following the storyline of a fortyish FMC—a wife and mother of a teen—who was very happy in her life as an attorney, with a husband of twenty years whom she adored and a teenage son she was very proud of, despite the normal teenage angst.

One night, she is looking out the window, watching her son come home from a date. A man approaches him.

Then her son stabs and kills the man.

Okay…what?

From that point on, the author takes the reader on a complex journey involving time loops and flashes from another POV. After a few more chapters, you realize: This is not the book you expected.

It’s so much better.

What pulled me in and kept me there were the underlying themes, which were much more complex than a simple whodunit and why. The author explores the early doubts of motherhood, the meaning of true and lasting love, and the consequences of lies.

As the main character goes deeper and deeper into secrets she never knew existed, the author peels through the layers of a life and reminds us that we all have those moments—those times when we wish we could go back.

But how do you change one thing without losing the things you loved?

I gave Wrong Place Wrong Time five stars for giving me that moment when I closed the book and simply sat there reflecting on its message, experiencing my own aha moment. Because sometimes a book you never knew you needed turns out to be one you will never forget
